On the writing front (book content is French-only) #

« Elle attrape avec reconnaissance le verre de Frisette du Cap que Tom lui tend et en avale immédiatement quelques gorgées.
— Il m’a fait rentrer dans une salle plongée dans le noir, et toutes les bougies se sont allumées d’un coup~! J’ai bien cru que j’allais être replongée dans mes pires cauchemars pour l’éternité.
Tom termine de verser sa propre bière à l’aide de la tireuse installée sur son comptoir de cuisine.
— Et finalement~? demande-t-il.
— Finalement, non.
Parler dans la petite cuisine de Tom lui est plus facile que partout ailleurs. Peut-être parce qu’elle lui fait penser à celle de sa mère. Les placards un peu grinçants sont exactement du même style, le carrelage au mur au-dessus de l’évier aussi. Elle a ce côté vivant de cuisine exploitée et entretenue avec soin, avec un peu de ce bazar de trucs qu’on a toujours besoin d’avoir sous la main quand on aime préparer des bons plats, comme le moulin à épices à côté des bocaux de légumineuses. Et la tireuse à bière, bien sûr. »
On the web front #
Since I’m required to familiarize myself with AI for work, I’ve started a pet project that could serve me both personally and professionally, using LLMs for what they are: natural language response tools.
I’ve always thought transcription is one of the most sensible applications of generative AI, if only to put an end to incomplete meeting notes (Yes, I used to be the person taking meeting notes so we have some, which partially prevented me from contributing.) or for automating video subtitling in multiple languages, making content accessible to a broader audience. As someone who writes a lot, my partner and I came up with the idea of using transcription as a writing tool.
So, I started with Mistral AI’s documentation to create a small real-time transcription tool that writes audio to a given file. By using it alongside software like Obsidian (which auto-saves changes as I type) I can blend transcription with traditional keyboard writing. For now, the source code is in a private repository, but I’d like to make it public after a bit of cleanup.
In the garden #
I’ve finally started my first sowings. After a week, the lettuce and square peas are beginning to sprout.
For the lettuce, I prepare a strip of potting soil in my mini greenhouse and scatter the seeds. Soon, I’ll carefully separate and transplant the seedlings into individual pots.
For the square peas, the seeds are quite large (almost a centimeter), so I’ve chosen a tray with one seed per cell.
On the culture front #
Earlier, I was listening to a track from the stunning soundtrack of Expédition 33. It made me want to share that I listen to a lot of video game music, whether during writing sessions or while walking. Some of my favorites: Ori and the Blind Forest, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Ōkami.
